Last June my family and I went on an amazing trip to Hawaii together. We met my Mom, Stepdad, brother, sister, their spouses, and their kids out there and all stayed in a beautiful house on the North Shore of Oahu for one week. We all spent quality family time together going to the beach, swimming in the pool, and sharing meals together. My little ones absolutely loved all the time they got to play with their cousins.
During that week, it was such an honor for me to photograph my sister and brother-in-law’s 10-year vow renewal on the beach. The setting was gorgeous and it was so special for all of us to be together.
Their ceremony was beautifully done and they added so many unique details to it. They had a flying wish ceremony, sage burning, singing bowls, flower lei presentation to our Mom, and a flower petal circle to symbolize unity. Each of them read some very touching words they shared with each other. They ended their vow renewal with their youngest boy, my nephew Nautas, binding his parents’ hands together with one black and one white sash to symbolize their unity in lightness and darkness, while their oldest son Audio acted as their little officiant pronouncing their vows officially renewed.
I love how they brought so much meaning to their vow renewal with each of these special touches. I also photographed their wedding at the Courthouse ten years prior. I’m happy they had the opportunity to celebrate their 10-year anniversary with our family and renew their vows in such a beautiful way. I hope you enjoy these photos. Stay tuned for Part II later this week, which will feature the photos we took after their vow renewal.
