I’m really thankful I joined some other photographers in this project. I’ve been participating in this project for quite awhile and I love how it pushes me to think outside of the box. And, since I’m shooting only for myself, I can be as artsy and creative with my shooting and editing style as I dare to be. I have always used this project to push me to photograph my family more because I know these are photos I will love to look back on in the years to come. It’s rare when I can photograph my son too since he’s usually very goofy or will not cooperate for photos because he just doesn’t enjoy being photographed.
Last weekend we decided on a whim to go hiking on this lake that is only five minutes from our house. It was a bit stressful trying to figure out what to dress my LIttles in since my son has outgrown a lot of his clothes that aren’t just his play clothes for school (Minecraft t-shirts). My husband even said, “can’t we just go hiking and not make this a photo shoot opportunity?” I said, “ha, of course not.” 🙂 I think he was glad I got my way after all.
We are blessed to have had such warm weather here in San Diego. It doesn’t get better than going hiking in shorts and a tank top in January. The downside is how dry it is since we hadn’t had any rain for such a long time. I was inspired by the sharp, dry, and brittle reeds and tree branches on our hike. We even found a cactus plant and of course, the one photo I capture of my LIttles in front of that cactus my daughter has the most intense look on her face. Ha!
I hope you enjoy looking at these photos. I even jumped into one of the photos after I set it up and asked my husband to click the shutter a few times. Even though the light was pretty harsh there in the mid-afternoon, I do love that photo of me and my daughter.
